Tired of the old "a rabbi, a priest, and an imam walk into a bar" joke? Come join us as Harvard students and social justice comedian Negin Farsad show us how faith can be a funny thing!
Negin Farsad is at the forefront of social justice comedy—a field that she insists totally exists (or should). As one of few Iranian-American Muslim female comedian/filmmakers, this TED Senior Fellow uses humor—full-scale 'ridiculousity'—to bridge the racial, religious, social, and immigrant gap. She is the author of the forthcoming book How to Make White People Laugh. The Wall Street Journal calls her work “smart, funny, and fascinating.”
As a standup comedian, Farsad has performed far and wide, from the Laugh Factory in New York to the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Her other shows include The Dirty Immigrant Collective, Bootleg Islam, and The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: A Romantic Comedy. Queen Rania of Jordan commissioned Farsad to make a video as part of a series to combat Middle Eastern stereotypes—a series that won the first ever YouTube Visionary Award.
We are so excited to bring you this one of a kind event and hope you will join us as we destroy bigotry with laughter!!
Harvard students from the Harvard College Stand-up Comic Society will open with comic routines before Negin Farsad takes the stage at 8:00 p.m.
