Rev. Dan Smith (he/him) is a husband, father, and pastor with over 25 years of experience leading local congregations, most recently as Senior Minister at First Church in Cambridge, Congregational, United Church of Christ, from 2008 to 2024. He is a Lecturer on Ministry at Harvard Divinity School and serves as the UCC Chaplain for Harvard University. Dan has been deeply involved in local justice efforts, including serving as a Strategy Team Member and Vice President of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) and as a founding member of the MA Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence. He has worked extensively with First Church, Harvard, and across the region on efforts towards reckoning with and repairing the lasting harms of slavery and colonization. In 2019, he served on a university-wide faculty committee for the Presidential Initiative on Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery, and is currently helping oversee the "Harvard and the Landscape of Slavery" tours, which he co-created with several Harvard Chaplain colleagues.
