Rev. Adam Lawrence Dyer is thrilled to be a Unitarian Universalist Chaplain for Harvard University, in addition to being the first African American Lead Minister of the historic First Parish in Cambridge (1636). He received his Master of Divinity Degree from The Pacific School of Religion where he also earned a Certificate in Sexuality and Religion and was awarded the Paul Wesley Yinger Preaching Award. His ministry focuses on the intersection of embodiment, religion and politics and he brings a unique perspective as a theological thinker. Since 2012, he has maintained an online presence through his blog “Spirituwellness” where he shares insight in the context of the dynamic social media world. In 2016, he produced the widely read Love Beyond God, a book of poetry, reflections and meditations that comes from his experience as a black gay man in a historically white, heteronormative faith tradition. His writing has also appeared in several anthologies, magazines, other blogs and journals. Most recently, his essay Religious Equity: A Path to Greater LGBTQ Inclusion was published as part of the 2021 Kennedy School LGBTQ Journal.
